Web Development Manager

About the Role

Lead the execution of our web development team while remaining hands-on in building and improving ecommerce experiences across our portfolio of brands. As our Web Development Manager, you'll serve as the operational leader of our development team and the second-in-command to our Director of Technology. This is a leadership role for someone who still loves building. You'll divide your time between mentoring developers, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, and personally contributing to complex development work. Our portfolio includes multiple fast-growing ecommerce brands, internal software platforms, AI initiatives, and operational tools. Every week presents new technical challenges—from optimizing Shopify storefronts and custom applications to integrating third-party systems and improving internal workflows. We're looking for a highly technical leader who enjoys writing clean code, solving complex problems, and helping other developers produce exceptional work that is visually breathtaking. Success in this role means shipping reliable software, improving engineering standards, and building a team that consistently delivers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day execution of the web development team.
• Serve as the technical second-in-command to the Director of Technology.
• Architect, build, and maintain Shopify storefronts and custom web applications.
• Review code and maintain high engineering standards across the team.
• Mentor developers through technical guidance and regular feedback.
• Estimate project timelines and manage development priorities.
• Collaborate closely with creative, marketing, ecommerce, and leadership teams.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues across websites and internal systems.
• Improve website speed, scalability, security, and overall performance.
• Build and maintain API integrations with third-party platforms.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual business processes.
• Maintain documentation and development best practices.
• Research and implement modern technologies that improve our products and workflows.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time without sacrificing quality.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional web development experience.
• Previous experience leading or mentoring development teams.
• Strong expertise with JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience with React and modern frontend frameworks.
• Strong understanding of Shopify development and Liquid.
• Experience building custom apps and API integrations.
• Solid understanding of databases, backend architecture, and cloud services.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.
• Strong understanding of website performance optimization.
• Experience integrating ecommerce platforms, CRMs, ERPs, and marketing tools.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
